One of the many advanced features you can enjoy with your Chevy vehicle is HomeLink. What is HomeLink? It is a wireless control system built into your Chevy car, truck, or SUV. It allows you to open and close garage doors or automatic gates, activate/deactivate home security systems, and control home interior and exterior lights.

If you are ready to start enjoying the perks of HomeLink in Woodstock, the team at Chevrolet Of Canton is here to show you how to program your Chevy garage door opener. It’s easy to do, and the process can be completed in minutes. Simply follow the guide below.

Initial Setup

  1. Confirm that the batteries in your remote control transmitter are in good working order.
  2. Park your vehicle facing your garage and start the ignition.
  3. Locate the HomeLink buttons in your vehicle.
  4. Position the remote control transmitter 1 to 3 inches from the HomeLink control buttons. Simultaneously press the preferred HomeLink control button and the remote control button.
  5. Press the remote control button until the HomeLink indicator light turns on.
  6. Press the HomeLink controller button twice to activate the system.
  7. If the HomeLink indicator light is solid, you have successfully programmed the Chevy garage door opener.

Can You Program a Chevy Garage Door Opener Without a Remote?

Kennesaw drivers often ask, “Can you program a Chevy garage door opener without a remote?” In many cases, this is possible.

  1. Find the garage door opener control panel in your car.
  2. Press and hold the programming button for a few seconds until a light flashes (there may be different indicators for your particular make and model). We recommend consulting your owner’s manual for more specific details.
  3. To ensure your garage door opener connects to the correct garage door panel, park your car in your garage.
  4. Some Jasper drivers may need to use the program button on the control box of the garage door opener (possibly at the same time) to establish a connection. Your owner’s manual should contain these instructions.
  5. After programming a new keycode or linking the control panel to your garage door opener, wait a few seconds before using the feature.
  6. Test your garage door opener to see if the process was successful.
